Other Ways To Help Breakfast In A Bag

There are many ways you can help us to help London’s homeless other than by making a donation.  If you do wish to make a financial contribution please visit our donations page.

Donate Items

Our homeless friends are often in need of essential items and we’re always grateful to receive these and pass them on.  The ladies we support need sanitary products, underwear (new only please, all sizes), face creams, hair brushes, baby wipes, soaps and deodorants.

In winter the problems for the homeless increase as the temperature drops so new hats, scarves, gloves and socks are always welcomed.  Sometimes there’s a one-off particular need for a rough sleeper we’re supporting such as a warm coat or sleeping bag. In these instances we’ll usually send a tweet out to our followers asking for help with the specific item. Rucksacks are considered essentials by rough sleepers and we are constantly asked to try and find these to help make life a little easier for our friends who live on the streets of London.

We regularly update our Amazon Wishlist with items we need but can’t easily obtain locally or from our food suppliers / partners.  Maybe there’s something on there you can help with?

Please send any items to us at this address.

Social Media

If you follow us on Twitter you’ll already know that we often tweet about any items that we urgently need but there are also many other ways our Twitter followers help us and the homeless in London.

In fact by retweeting our tweets, promoting our campaigns, tweeting about us and encouraging others to join our ever-increasing army of followers on social media you are really helping us make a difference.

We’ve written a little more about the best ways to help us on Twitter here.

Sponsorship & Other Fundraising Ideas

One great way of raising funds for Breakfast In A Bag is to ask your friends and family to sponsor you for doing something amazing, extraordinary or even crazy!

Maybe you could organise or take part in a sponsored walk or run for BIAB?  Who’s going to be first to enter the London Marathon in aid of us?  Perhaps you fancy having your hair shaved off for a really good cause?  One of our followers is being sponsored to lose weight for us.  Stoptober?  Movember? Every month’s a good month for fundraising!

An artist that follows us has pledged to auction a lovely painting on our behalf.  A florist in London is kindly donating a percentage of this year’s Christmas tree sales to our campaign. We have a lady knitting hats for our homeless friends and so many other wonderful, kind and unique gestures of support. What’s your idea? The possibilities really are endless!

Sometimes we need extra volunteers to help prepare or hand out the bags, serve teas or to assist Michelle with hosting our Friday night Brekkie Station. Occasionally we’ll be looking for additional online help, maybe emailing out press releases, helping us behind the scenes with admin, supporting our social media hosts, printing some labels or doing some vital online research on our behalf.  We’ve even had guest writers supply content for this website. Everyone who works as part of our team gives up their time freely.

If you have some skills that you think we can use and you’d like to get involved please fill out our volunteer form here.
